«Ils ont tué Jaurès
was set in Carmaux,
a mining site in the south of France. It was performed to an audience
of 5200 people on successive evenings in the first weeks of August 1994
to celebrate the 80 th anniversary of the death of Jean Jaurès.
Alain
Decaux , the French academic was the author and the narrator.
On stage
were 150 amateur and professional actors.
Cinema was used to retrace events in «Assemblée
Nationale» and in the mines. It was also used to evoke both «The
Dreyfus’ case» and the assassination of Jaurès.
